This bridge is an interesting structure because of its variety of spans. Each end of the bridge has a Warren pony truss span. In the middle, there is a through Warren truss span, and also a tiny through plate girder bascule bridge. Tiny does truly describe the bascule span, it appears shorter than the pony truss spans. The bascule follows the Scherzer type rolling lift design. It has not opened for boats for a very long time.
