The older part of the churchyard lies to the south and east of the present church whilst there are modern extension to the west and to a greater extent the North.

The present Church was consecrated in 1876 by Bishop Selwyn and replaced an earlier building. It is Italianate in style, with a barrel roof and an east end apse. The Bell is integrated into the main building.

Many headstones in the churchyard feature several local names such as Cowle, Garret, Joughin abd Kneale.

Notable graves include the following:
John Cowell, who served on board HMS Tremeraire at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and died in 1863,aged 77; and
Sir Norman Wisdom OBE, the English actor, comedian and singer-songwriter. (visit link)
