Located in Fort Jones Cemetery and atop a small knoll as part of a veterans section and next to a flagpole is a memorial with an inscription that reads:

ERECTED
BY
FT. JONES
BOY SCOUTS
MAY 30, 1913,
TO OUR
SOLDIERS
BURRIED HERE

I found the spelling of the word 'BURRIED' interesting and wonder if it was intentional since I've never seen it spelled that way.

The famous grave of John King Luttrell who was a U.S. Congressman is buried nearby this memorial. He was a Sergeant of Arms for the California State Assembly during the American Civil War from 1861-1865.
