Combined WWI / WWII memorial cross on Stocks Hill, Silverstone.

A two-stepped octagonal base surmounted by a square sectioned plinth with an octagonal pillar and elaborate floriated wheel cross. There is an additional angled stone tablet on lower step of base, dedicated to Second World War. Incised inscriptions on inset side panels of the plinth, also the base tablet.

Plinth, 6 o'clock face : THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED/ TO THE GLORY AND IN MEMORY OF/ THE TWENTY FIVE MEN OF THIS VILLAGE/ WHO FOUGHT BRAVELY AND DIED NOBLY/ DURING THE GREAT WAR, 1914 - 1919./ ALSO AN APPRECIATION OF THE SPLENDID/ SERVICES OF THOSE WHO HAVE TAKEN/ THEIR PART IN THE GREAT STRUGGLE,/ HAVE RETURNED TO THEIR HOME AND FRIENDS/ PASS NOT THIS STONE IN SORROW BUT IN PRIDE/ AND MAY WE LIVE AS NOBLY AS WE DIED
