In 1903 Andrew Carnegie donated $10,000 to the city of Eufaula for the construction of a public library. By October of that year the first brick was being laid and the building was completed March of 1904.

An addition to the library was completed in 1990 at a cost of over $600,000. It doubled the size of the original facility and was carefully designed to complement and match the design of the original structure.

The library just celebrated its 100th birthday and today is one of only 2 Carnegie Libraries which still operate in the state of Alabama.
