"LE SITE
Le Site est implanté sur la commune de
Pontonx en bordure de la RN 124 à l'échangeur
du Val Fleuri entre Dax et Mont de Marsan,
au centre du Département des Landes.
Il a été choisi pour honorer la mémoire des
105 Landais tombés pour la FRANCE en Afrique
du Nord 1952 - 1962.
Le Mémorial symbolise les vies des soldats
landais, qui se sont éteintes durant ces dix années.
Elles sont matérialisées par des colonnes de granit
qui s'élèvent pour se terminer par une ligne brisée,
symbolisant la vie fauchée.
Les hauteurs varient selon le nombre de victimes
dont les noms sont gravés dans la partie inférieure.
Ces volumes s'articulent autour du bas relief en bronze
représentant l'ALGERIE, la TUNISIE et le .MAROC,
la terre où ils sont tombés. La végétation
Méditerranéenne ravive le souvenir.

The Site is located in the
Pontonx along the RN 124 at the interchange
from Val Fleuri between Dax and Mont de Marsan,
in the center of the Landes Department.
It was chosen to honor the memory of
105 Landais fallen for FRANCE in Africa
of the North 1952 - 1962.
The Memorial symbolizes the lives of soldiers
which have been extinct during these ten years.
They are materialized by granite columns
which rise to terminate in a broken line,
symbolizing the broken life.
Heights vary according to the number of victims
whose names are engraved in the lower part.
These volumes revolve around the bas-relief in bronze
representing ALGERIA, TUNISIA and .MAROC,
the land where they fell. The vegetation
Mediterranean revives the memory.
