The mark is a Colorado Department of Highways control monument stamped 24 153.5, set in bedrock in the southeast angle of the intersection of U.S. Highway 24 and High Road in Eagle County, near the town of Red Cliff. The mark is 62.0 feet east of the center line of Highway 24, 27.8 feet south of the center line of High Road, 14.2 feet east of the southeast corner of a concrete base supporting a sign "Red Cliff," and 2.0 feet northeast of a steel witness post.
To reach the mark from the junction of Interstate Highway 70 and U.S. Highway 24 about 5 miles west of Vail, go southeast on Highway 24 for about 9 miles to the mark on the left.
