In Peoria, within Lakeview Park, is the Owens Recreation Center, which is an ice rink facility.
Lakeview Park is located off W. Lake Street, east of the intersection with University Ave.
The ice rink is closest to the eastern entrance to the park and is a short drive in. Parking is available close by.
From the web site for the rink:
"Included in this facility are two official size ice rinks, eight locker rooms, a large meeting room, pro shop, concession stand, skate rental, and a large lobby. Owens Center was not only the largest facility constructed by the Park District at the time, but it is also named after Rhodell E. Owens, former director of the Peoria Park District and full time employee of 35 years.
The facility was opened with a special visit from Olympic champions such as Dorothy Hamill, Diane Holum and Eric Strobel, which is believed to attribute to the overwhelming response to the Learn-To-Skate Lesson Program, Hockey Program, and Public Skating."
The rink is a large building with vegetation covering portions of it.
