The Charles M. Goddard Center for the Visual and Performing Arts maintains this beautiful sculpture garden on their grounds. Ida Sutton Williams (2/1/1933 - 3/17/2004) was a Board member of the Center and instrumental is starting several of its programs. She was a teacher initially, and devoted herself to community service and philanthropy in Ardmore and in Oklahoma. Under Governor Nigh, she was head of the Oklahoma State Dept. of Libraries.

This is a stylized sculpture created by Tom Corbin in 2000, which displays the free-spirit personality of Ida. The bronze sculpture shows a woman with her arms outspread and her head thrown back. The legs and arms of the woman are thin and elongated in the modernistic style of the sculptor.

The sculpture stands on a concrete base with a bronze plaque reading: "In memory of Ida Sutton Williams". A description of the life of this remarkable woman can be found here (visit link)
