In Peoria, along Riverfront Park, is this sculpture installation called "Stainless Steel Metaphors."

The sculpture is located along a paved path and right along the river, not far from a footing for the I-74 bridge over the Illinois River. There is a parking lot off the exit for Ill. Route 29.

The sculpture has a squarish footprint and has several beams on the ground from which the rest of the sculpture is built. There is a jumble of figures that are cut in outline. The forms are derived from animal and human forms. In the center is a feast as hyenas and other animals appear to be tearing something apart. Vultures and crows are on high points looking on. At one corner is a human wielding a club. Another has a leg of a woman and another spot is a negative of that same leg.

The base has the name of the sculptor, Preston Jackson, as well as the Fabricator, John C. Hanley, and the Patron - A. Lucas and Sons.

There is a sign nearby, with the following text:

'We are individuals possessing our own set of responses to life. There are obvious differences between the lives of the fortunate and the unfortunate. our state of existence breeds a predator-prey society, a syndrome that is very much part of our lives. Many people today exist in a false sense of security.

The steel images metaphorically give life to view is what we as a society have become. This is a fact that cannot be ignored. This planet connects every aspect of life that exists within. We share the same problems; no one is totally safe.'
