Roman Walter Sadlowski was born in Deerfield, MA and moved to Pittsfield with his parents, Valentine and Mary, in 1929. He was employed by the General Electric Co. before he enlisted in the Navy in August 1940. After he received naval training in Newport, RI he was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma. He was among the servicemen killed on board the USS Oklahoma on December 7, 1941.
