FR Cette bibliothèque fait parti du réseau de quatre bibliothèques-médiathèques des communes du Val de Durance

Ce véritable service culturel de proximité accueille toute l'année un public intergénérationnel.
Rendre la culture accessible à tous les habitants du territoire, même à ceux qui ne disposent pas de lieu dédié sur leur commune, c’est la mission que s’est donnée la CCMD en menant une politique particulièrement active en faveur du développement de la lecture publique. Cette démarche s’inscrit dans une volonté de solidarité territoriale.
L’accès à l’information et à la culture, le maintien du lien social sont un enjeu de société. Source de plaisir, la lecture lutte contre la dégénérescence intellectuelle et aide au maintien de l’individualité.

Le réseau
* La médiathèque Louis Joseph, tête du réseau construite en 1986, est ouverte 20 h 30 par semaine toute l’année (7 salariés, 727 m2, 50 000 volumes, 7000 DVD, 14000 cd).
* La bibliothèque des Mées qui existe depuis 1996, est ouverte 15 heures par semaine (2 salariés, 190 m2, 13000 documents)
* La bibliothèque Marcelle Jourdan à Peyruis est ouverte 16 heures par semaine (1 salarié, 75 m2, 9000 documents)
* La bibliothèque du Château à Volonne est ouverte 12 heures par semaine (4 bénévoles, 76 m2, 8000 documents)

Avec 9 professionnels salariés et 18 bénévoles, certains venant du monde associatif, la mise en réseau de la lecture publique sur le territoire de la communauté de communes de moyenne Durance offre plus de 1200m2 de surface équipée, ayant pour objectif de mettre le livre, le cd, le dvd et bientôt le numérique à la portée de tous, dans des zones rurales éloignées des pôles urbains.

Pour atteindre cet objectif, les moyens mis en œuvre sont les suivants :
- une collaboration active entre les acteurs de la chaîne du livre (éditeurs, libraires, bibliothécaires, écrivains, associations s’occupant de livres et de lecture)
- une carte donnant accès à toutes les bibliothèques
- des collections informatisées ou en cours d’informatisation qui, à terme, permettront la consultation d’un catalogue collectif commun et de sites internet mutualisés
- un programme soutenu d’événements annuels gratuits dont les plus importants sont la fête du livre et de la lecture, Maili Mailo (manifestation destinée au jeune public), « musiques d’automnes », un ensemble de conférences, films et concerts autour de la musique et des musiciens.

With 9 salaried professionals and 18 volunteers, some from the voluntary sector, the networking of the public reading on the territory of the community of communes of medium Durance offers more than 1200m2 of equipped surface, aiming to put the book, the Cd, dvd and soon the digital at the reach of all, in rural areas remote from the urban poles.

- active collaboration between the actors of the book chain (publishers, booksellers, librarians, writers, associations involved in books and reading)
- a map giving access to all libraries
- computerized or computerized collections which, in the long term, will allow the consultation of a common collective catalog and shared websites
- a sustained program of free annual events, the most important of which are the book and reading festival, Maili Mailo (an event for young audiences), «autumn music», a series of lectures, films and Concerts around music and musicians.
