FR Les « demoiselles coiffées », situées à cheval sur les communes de Pontis et du Sauze.

Les 'Demoiselles coiffées', appelée également 'Cheminées de fée' sont des sortes de grandes colonnes supportant par dessus un rocher plus ou moins volumineux. Ce phénomène assez rare est du à l'érosion. Dans les moraines (mélange de boue, sable, cailloux et rochers laissé par les glaciers), l'érosion est arrêtée par les rochers qui protègent la colonne et donne naissance à la formation des 'Demoiselles Coiffées'.

Vous pourrez les apercevoir à partir du Col de Pontis ou en longeant le lac (par la route entre Savines-le-lac et Le Sauze du Lac).

Des sentiers avec panneaux explicatifs sont prévus autour de ces édifices afin d'expliquer ou petits et plus grands le phénomène des 'Cheminées de fée'. Vous y aurez également une magnifique vue sur le lac de Serre-Ponçon.

The 'Capped Maidens', also called 'hoodoo', 'tent rock', 'fairy chimney' or 'earth pyramid' are types of large columns supporting over a rock more or less voluminous. This rare phenomenon is due to erosion. In the moraines (mud, sand, pebbles and rocks left by the glaciers), erosion is stopped by the rocks which protect the column and gives rise to the formation of 'Demoiselles Coiffées'.

You can see them from the Col de Pontis or along the lake (by the road between Savines-le-lac and Le Sauze du Lac).

Trails with explanatory panels are provided around these buildings to explain the phenomenon of 'Fairy chimneys'. You will also have a magnificent view of the lake of Serre-Ponçon.
