"The Methodist Episcopal society was organized in October, 1879, since which time public services have been held in a building the use of which was secured for that purpose."
The Congregationalists, Presbyterians and Baptists all organized before the Methodists. The current Methodist Church is a modern brick building, not the one used in the 1800s. It has white trim and a cupola-like steeple. Truxton United Methodist has a congregation of 55. The church also runs a senior assisted living facility. It is in the center of town opposite a statue of John J. McGraw, Giants baseball player from Truxton.
