Star is widely known as the geographic center of the state of North Carolina. The actual marked site is about a mile Southeast. The water tower located near downtown announces you have arrived in Star, NC as one enters town from the north on Business Route US 220. It provides water storage for light industrial uses, commercial accounts, fire suppression, and human consumption.
