Die einzelnen Spielorte sind in Venne verstreut, allerdings sind sie alle gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Sie liegen nicht einmal dreihundert Meter weit auseinander. Neben den geplanten und im Programm angekündigten Konzerten finden immer wieder freie Sessions statt, hier ist zum Beispiel die Scheune des Gasthauses Linnenschmidt eine gute Adresse für Interessierte.

Nicht wenige Musiker treffen sich hier und spielen gemeinsam bis in die frühen Morgenstunden hinein. Eine Übernachtung ist in Venne direkt und in den umliegenden Orten möglich. Hotels und Pensionen sind allerdings meist im Voraus ausgebucht, daher ist eine rechtzeitige Reservierung zu empfehlen. Auf dem Sportplatz in Venne gibt es zudem Zeltplätze mit Duschen und WC. Hier ist keine Gebühr Pflicht, allerdings freuen sich die Veranstalter natürlich über eine kleine Spende. Für Speis und Trank wird in den Restaurants der Stadt gut gesorgt, außerdem sind alljährlich verschiedene Caterer vor Ort.

Die Konzerte der Spitzenklasse gibt es zu einem bezahlbaren Preis und es ist sogar so, dass Kinder und Jugendliche, die in erster Linie angesprochen werden sollen, bis 16 Jahre den Eintritt frei haben. Damit ist die Veranstaltung vor allem für Familien geeignet, denn gerade bei ihnen ist schließlich häufig das Geld knapp.

Zu hören gibt es unter anderem Irish Folk, Lieder aus dem Plattdeutschen, Folkrock, Bluegrass, Blues und Folk für Kinder. Wobei das natürlich nur eine Auswahl darstellt.

Inzwischen gilt der Folkfrühling als das größte Folkfestival in den alten Bundesländern und viele sagen “Es muss nicht immer Rudolstadt sein, wenn es darum geht, zu einem Folkfestival in Deutschland von überregionaler Bedeutung zu gehen.”

Tickets kosten 20-25 Euro abhängig vom Tag.
