[FR] L’église actuelle ainsi que le collatéral datent du XIIème siècle. Au XVème siècle l’ensemble fut profondément transformé. En effet, à cette époque particulièrement troublée, les paysans se regroupent et devant l’incapacité ou l’impossibilité des seigneurs à les défendre efficacement fortifièrent les églises pour servir de refuges pour eux et pour leurs récoltes.

L’abside a donc été remaniée et surélevée. Il en subsiste une tour maintenant arasée avec des meurtrières encore très visibles de l’extérieur.

Dans les années 1755, l’église se voit flanquée d’un clocher à beffroi condamnant de ce fait l’ancienne porte. Celle-ci, sur l’extérieur est ornée d’un tore ininterrompu en tracé brisé et d’un cordon à retour tombant sur deux sculptures représentant des personnages mitrés.

Sur la gauche de cette ancienne entrée on peut remarquer une large pierre posée sur deux socles en granit. Il s’agit en réalité d’un reposoir sur lequel on déposait le cercueil des défunts avant l’accueil dans l’église; A Saint Dizier, ce monument est connu sous l’appellation de « Pierre des morts ».

Dans l’angle extérieur du collatéral et de l’ancienne entrée un grand bénitier carré en granit est difficile à dater

L’église est placée sous le quadruple vocable de la Vierge Marie, de Saint Dizier, de Saint Gervais et de Saint Protais.

En souvenir de l’anniversaire de la nativité de la Vierge Marie, la fête patronale était fixée au 8 septembre, « la Septembre », comme l’on disait à l’époque.

Lorsque l’on pénètre dans l’église, on est frappé par le bel ensemble rendu par le granit omniprésent et la luminosité colorée des vitraux encadrant le chœur.

Dans les années 1859-1862, sous Napoléon III, l’église a été restaurée. Le dallage refait par Messieurs Labussière Louis et Jean père et fils, adjudicataires des travaux. Les vitraux du chœur réalisés par les ateliers Thevenot de Clermont-Ferrand ont été posés en 1861. Ils représentent la Vierge Marie au centre, Saint Dizier à gauche et Saint Gervais à droite.

[EN] The present church as well as the collaterals date from the XIIth century. In the 15th century the whole was deeply transformed. Indeed, during this particularly troubled period, the peasants gathered together and the inability or the impossibility of the lords to defend them effectively fortified the churches to serve as refuges for them and for their harvests.

In the years 1755, the church is flanked by a steeple belfry thus condemning the old door. This one, on the outside is decorated with an uninterrupted torus in broken outline and a returning cord falling on two sculptures representing mitred personages.

On the left of this ancient entrance is a large stone placed on two granite bases. It is actually a repository on which were deposited the coffin of the deceased before the reception in the church; At Saint Dizier, this monument is known as the "Stone of the Dead".

In the outer corner of the collateral and the old entrance a large granite holy font is difficult to date
