The Hashknife Pony Express run is a celebration of the original Pony Express moving from the town of Holbrook in central Arizona to the City of Scottsdale. It kicks off the annual Scottsdale celebration of its western heritage. Mimicking the original cross country Pony Express, riders in traditional cowboy outfits gallop down paved highways to deliver the mail. This statue features a rider in garb of the 1860's passing the mailbag to a rider in contemporary cowboy clothing. The statue is located in Scottsdale's Waterfront neighborhood, a mix of high end clothing shops and bars along a canal bank. The statue is bronze and the figures are life sized. The artist is Herb Mignery and the piece was created in 1998.
