Invermere, being a tourist town, has several parks, the major one on Lake Windermere (with the beach), but this is the only large athletic park. Here one may spend an entire day attempting to achieve their targeted fitness level. Most major sports and activities can be partaken of in this park.
Beside the path from the parking lot to the field house is a large boulder atop a stepped, tapering plinth which is the sign welcoming one into the park. On each side of the plinth are the three plaques of the sponsoring agencies for the park, Rocky Mountain School District No. 6, the Rotary Club of Invermere and the District of Invermere.
Beginning at the entrance, there is a fitness and workout area, a mountain bike park, a sport court enclosing a tennis court and two basketball courts, a skate park, at least one ball diamond, a soccer field and a field house with washrooms, changing facilities and concession.
Two years in the making, the park was officially opened in 2005. It was a cooperative project of Rocky Mountain School District No. 6, the Rotary Club of Invermere and the District of Invermere. In total, the park occupies about two city blocks.
