In the center of Messkirch, Germany, Baden-Württemberg on top of a hill exists a castle called 'Schloss Messkirch'. OIt has its own entry at the Wikipedia.

The castle was built 1557-63 in Renaissance style.
It was the first four-wing Renaissance building north of the Alps.
An older castle from the 14th century was pulled down for the new castle.
Today it is used as museum and as convention center.
