A substantial hotel reflecting the boom period of Wellington resulting from decades of pastoral and gold mining activities in the district during the nineteenth century. The year of construction appears on the heavily moulded stuccoed parapet with Classically inspired ornamentation.
It continues to ply its trade of offering a cold beer & accommodation to the traveller 123 years after construction.
