The church is currently calling themselves FoundationUMC. They emphasize the small group model. The previous name was Vestal Free Methodist.

The church is reinventing itself on the model that has been successful in the more contemporary churches. "Our worship is what many would call "contemporary" with guitars, drums and upbeat music, but we like to think of it as relevant and sincere." They have UMC in the name, but don't emphasize the Methodist part of it. The brick church looks like it was built around 1960, a period of growth in the area.
