L'école n°2 témoigne du système d'éducation qui existe en milieu rural dans la seconde moitié du 19ième siècle et jusqu'au milieu du 20ième. Avec son plan composé d'une pièce rectangulaire unique et son aspect extérieur, ce bâtiment représente bien l'école de rang. Elle acceuille ses premiers élèves à la rentrée de 1861 et ferme ses portes en 1963. À l'origine, le profeseur n'habite pas à l'école. En 1884, le bâtiment original est rehaussé de 60 centimètres pour permettre de créer un minuscule logement pour la nouvelle enseignante.
Le 26 février 2004, le Comité de développement Stanbridgeois (CDS) acquiert de la ferme Heyligen l'école n°2 dans le but de la restaurer et de l'utiliser à des fins socioculturelles.
À l'automne 2004, le CDS reçoit une aide financière de la municipalité de Notre-Dame-de-Standbridge et du pacte rural de la MRC Brome-Missisquoi pour la restauration. Les travaux sont menés par des membres du comité du patrimoine qui y travaillent bénévolement et avec passion. Une équipe de Chantiers jeunesse aidée financièrement par la Caisse populaire Desjardins de Bedford et de nombreux bénévoles ont participé aux travaux.
La restauration du rez-de-chaussée et de l'enveloppe extérieur est complétée en 2006. Le bâtiment apparaît maintenant tel qu'il était en 1884. Il fait partie de l'ensemble patrimonial Moulins des Rivières reconnu dans le schéma d'aménagement de la MRC Brome-Missisquoi et est maintenant l'hôte d'événements culturels.

School No. 2 bears witness to the education system that exists in rural areas in the second half of the 19th century and until the middle of the 20th century. With its plan consisting of a single rectangular room and its exterior appearance, this building represents well the the one-room school. It welcomed the first students at the beginning of the year 1861 and closed its doors in 1963. Originally, the teacher did not live in school. In 1884, the original building is raised by 60 centimeters to create a tiny housing for the new teacher.
On February 26, 2004, the Comité de développement Stanbridgeois Development Committee (CDS) acquired the building from Farm Heyligen in order to restore it and use it for sociocultural purposes.
In the fall of 2004, CDS received funding from the Municipality of Notre-Dame-de-Standbridge and the Rural Pact of the Brome-Missisquoi MRC for restoration. The works were conducted by some members of the heritage committee who worked voluntarily and with passion. A Chantier jeunesse team supported financially by the Caisse populaire Desjardins de Bedford and many volunteers took part in the project.
Restoration of the building envelope and ground floor interior was completed in 2006, and the building now appears as it was in 1884. It is part of the Moulins des Rivières heritage zone designated in the Regional Development Plan of the Brome-Missisquoi MRC and is now used for cultural events.
