The statue originally stood in the middle of a traffic roundabout near to the club's old ground. After the current new ground was built the statue was moved to stand outside the north east quadrant.
The cast bronze, running figure is set at 4 metres high on three steel masts. Two of the masts are joined by a cross member at the height of the statues feet. The statue is in effect standing on the cross bar. A goal (conversion, penalty or drop goal) is scored when the ball travels above the crossbar and between the posts of the goal.
A plaque at ground level has the following information.
