Marker Text:

This site was once the fort's cemetery. From 1867 to 1879 people associated with the fort were buried here. Soldiers, their wives and children, as well as Tonkawa Scouts were buried here. When the fort was abandoned in 1881, the remains from this cemetery were moved to the San Antonio National Cemetery.
