The Pentagon is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, located at 48 N. Rotary Road, Arlington, Virginia. As a symbol of the United States military, “the Pentagon” is often used to refer to the Department of Defense rather than the building itself. Those who work at the Pentagon simply call it “the Building.” The open space in the center is informally known as “ground zero.” At the center of this plaza is the "Ground Zero Cafe," a snack bar. The coordinates are this location.The Washington Metro Pentagon station is located at the Pentagon, on the Blue and Yellow Lines. Traveling via Metro, I got off at the Pentagon to transfer to a bus. I took several digital photos of the tall birdhouse located on the lawn between the Metro escalators/Pentagon and the Pentagon bus transit station.
