The tree is located in the middle of the triangular shaped village green at Chapel Chorlton.
It is surrounded by metal railings and wooden bench seating.

The oak tree was planted in 1897 to commemorate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria.
There are two metal plaques attached to the railings.

The inscription on the top plaque reads:
THIS OAK
WAS PLANTED IN
COMMEMORATION OF
THE DIAMOND JUBILEE
OF QUEEN VICTORIA
1897

The inscription on the plaque beneath it reads:
CELEBRATIONS TOOK PLACE ON
JULY 19TH 1997
TO COMMEMORATE THE CENTENARY
OF THE PLANTING OF THIS OAK TREE
WHICH MARKED THE DIAMOND JUBILEE
OF QUEEN VICTORIA'S REIGN
