This former blacksmith shop sits just off Rte 40 near Casselman River Bridge State Park. It is part of the Spruce Forest Artisan Village History Walk.

"This was the site of a blacksmith shop for shoeing horses and servicing stagecoaches, freighters and Conestogas on the National Road. Up to fourteen coaches per day, each way, passed here during peak season. Traffic was often so heavy that the smith worked through the night. Blacksmith shops were a regular feature along the pike from 1800 to the early 1900's."
