U Milosrdnych Street is part of former Jewish Quarter in Prague. The former Jewish Ghetto in Prague has a long history, going back to the 12 th century. There is the oldest still existing synagogue in Europe – the Old-New Synagogue – and the Old Jewish Cemetery from the 15 th century. Several other historical buildings are preserved in this quarter, which is called Josefov at the present time. There are various legends connected with it, which contribute a lot to the reputation of Prague as a mystical city.
The former Jewish Ghetto in Prague was demolished in 1897. The appearance of many streets has changed a lot, some streets disappeared completely.
In the background this paintig you can see a tower of the Church of St. Simon and Judy.

Dnešní podoba kláštera i puvodní nemocnice U Milosrdných vznikala postupne od 20. a 30. let 17. století, kdy tehdejší budovy i s pozemky získali milosrdní bratri.
