This 3.6 km railway uses (at least one) steam, and diesel locomotives. In 2012 they also had a "Thomas" (the Tank Engine) locomotive and train. (WOMOW)
The local 'engineers' are very enthusiastic in their roles.
There is also a Rail Museum (free entry) with artifacts from the real Casino rail system, and it doubles as a kiosk, where snacks can be bought. There are sheltered picnic tables there where you can sit and enjoy you pies or other food.
The railway is also open on Public Holidays - when flooding hasn't closed operations - like the two times I have been there.
It is also open for the seven days of Beef Week, as Casino is considered by the locals as being 'the Beef Capital' of NSW.
* Remember: If you are wanting to take a ride on the miniature train that you DO NEED to have enclosed foot wear *
Caution may be needed if taking a walk around the wetlands in summer time, as the area will be a good environment for some of our scaly 'friends'.
Car parking is recommended on Queensland Road, near the intersection of West Street/Summerland Way. Or, play a round of golf at the local course, and catch the train there, beside the Museum.
