"Ralph J. Marquart, 91, Krakow, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015, at his home.

"Ralph, son of the late Frank Marquart and wife Rose, nee Schmitt, was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Washington. He was united in marriage to Catherine E. Miesner Nov. 23, 1950, at St. Gertrude Church, Krakow. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, from Feb. 25, 1943, until Nov. 19, 1945. He was awarded the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theatre Ribbon and three Bronze Service Stars. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 2661 and was an insurance agent for the Western Catholic Union for most of his life. Ralph enjoyed many hobbies, among them gardening, Cardinal baseball, playing cards and jigsaw puzzles, but his greatest passion was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

"Ralph is survived by five children, Ronnie Marquart and wife Jeanette, Marthasville, Kevin Marquart and wife Jan, Charlene Virgen and husband Ray, Debbie Marquart, all of Krakow, and Ruth Brinker and husband Eugene, Washington. He also leaves to survive seven siblings, Frank Marquart and wife Rosemary, Marthasville, Alfred Marquart and wife Genevieve, Roman Marquart and wife Linda, Raymond Marquart and wife Patricia, Edward Marquart and wife Donna, Frances Meade, and Gertrude Katzung and husband Joseph, all of Washington; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; step- great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; other relatives and many friends.

"He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Marquart, Dec. 4, 2014; one daughter, Marcia Marquart; his parents; two brothers, Wilfred and John Marquart; and four sisters, Alverna Marquart, Lillian Nieder, Mary Ann Kraft and Leola Mantle.

"Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 1, at Miller Funeral Home, Washington.

"A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Krakow.

"Burial followed in the church cemetery.

"Memorial donations may be given to St. Gertrude Church or St. Gertrude Grade School.

"Arrangements were in care of Miller Funeral Home, Washington." ~ Published in The Missourian on June 6, 2015
