"Water is a life of its own, constantly moving, powerful, creative and energetic, it has attracted people since ancient times, and it is particularly fascinating to trace back the origin of a rushing stream in the Stubai Valley to its origins and to walk on its tracks.

At the WildeWasserWeg in the Stubai Valley with its unique alpine ski resorts, this natural event can be experienced in three stages in a fantastic way. From the glacier fields gliding over the turquoise-blue mountain lakes, several smaller springs that collect themselves to torrents of water, to small pastures and streams, there are all the different phenomena of the wet element to admire.

"HEAD 1:
WILDEWASSERARENA - RUETZ CATARACT - TSCHANGELAIR ALM - GRAWA WATERFALL / GRAWA ALM

Walking time: 1 ½ h
Height: 120 m
Distance: 3,5 km
Highlights: WildeWasserArena, Ruetz cataract, Grawa waterfall
Refreshment: Tschangelair Alm, Grawa Alm

The trail begins in the WildeWasserArena at the quarry in Ranalt on the banks of the River Ruetz and leads through the spectacular Ruetz cataract to the Tschangelair Alm. A short path leads from the main road in the area between Ranalt and the Tschangelair Alm. Directly on the main road there are numerous parking lots (signposted: WildeWasserWeg) and a bus stop (Nürnberger Hütte).

In the Wild Water Arena you can find out about the importance of water for the Stubai Valley. Numerous dwellings also invite you to settle down in this special place and to let nature affect itself for the first time.

If one follows the wild water path, going out from the wild water arena in the valley, the opposites could not be larger. If you walk on the banks of the slowly flowing Ruetzbach, you will be surrounded by thunderous water. Two platforms, some above the abyss, as well as a wooden bridge, impressively convey the unbridled power of the creek. Thanks to this natural power, the spectacular gorge has been created with small waterfalls and rapids. At the end of the cataract, a kind of cascade, divided by blocks and rock bars, leads to the authentic Tschangelair Alm. Here you have the opportunity to take a short break before the end of the first stage. The surrounding area is characterized by a dense succession of avalanches and quarries, and has specially adapted vegetation: berry bushes and birch trees pressed down, narrow spruce strips between them.

Right after a bend, the view opens through the trees to the imposing Grawa waterfall, the heart of the WildeWasser trail. The widest waterfall of the Eastern Alps and natural monument - the superlatives certainly do not suffice to describe the wild beauty of this waterfall. Depending on the amount of water, the Grawa changes its appearance decisively. In the late autumn we see only a rather sparse strip in the right part. In early summer with the snow melt and especially after heavy rainfall, the water ridge above the fall stage divides into a wide area. Stairs like cascades, waving water veils, roaring and gushing water swells - all this can be observed here.

Tip: The whole of the first section has been designed so that it can be walked on easily, so that it can be walked on easily by any visitor or by children. "

""HEAD 2:
GRAWA WATERFALL - SULZENAU ALM - SULZENAUHÜTTE

Walking time: 2 ½ hours
Height: 660 m
Distance: approx. 4 km
Highlights: Grawa Waterfall, Sulzenau Valley, Sulzenaufall
Refreshment options: Grawa Alm, Sulzenau Alm, Suleznau hut

The second stage of the WildeWasser trail leads directly from the viewing platform at the Grawa waterfall over the old Almsteig: direct, steep, straightforward. There is good walking safety, good physical condition and, above all, good shoes due to the dampness of the ground. Along the ascent, the Grawa waterfall can be experienced at two other vantage points - one at the height of a turbulent Toscian basin, the second directly above the exposed demolition edge. Here the forces of the water can be directly admired and the quake of the waterfall and its spray on the skin can be felt.

After a little more than an hour's walk you reach Sulzenegg (1800m) from where you can walk almost through the huge, meandering and dominated valley of the glacier and the Sulzenaalm.

From the idyllic alpine hut, the trail leads directly to the foot of the most powerful of the 3 waterfalls - the Sulzenaufall. Like a silver arrow, the water of this unique waterfall shoots in a thin path over 200 meters down the wonderful green alps of the Sulzenaualm. Especially in the early afternoon the waterfall glistens in all facets, hissing and pushing and finally makes a wonderful water fungus.

In cozy serpentines you continue to the Sulzenauhütte, which stands like an eaglehorse with a great view directly over a rocky break-off edge on a beautiful, even ground. "

"ETAP 3:
SULZENAU HUT - SULZENAUFERNER (GLACIER)

Walking time: 1 hour 30 min.
Height: 400 m
Distance: 3 km
Highlights: Blue paints, Sulzenauferner
Places to go: Sulzenauhütte

On the third and final stage of the WildeWasser trail, the mountain landscape from the Sulzenau hut to the foot of the Sulzenauferner is like a nature-oriented glacier educational trail. Rarely can the various appearances of the glacier landscape be impressed so impressively at such a small distance: with views to the high towering craggy towers of the glacier break of the Sulzenauferner and the Zuckerhütl wander through the landscape. Passing large morainic lakes, turquoise blue lakes such as the "Blaues Lacke" or over smooth and colorful glaciers, hikers reach a glacier lake below the Peiljochs. There is finally reached the point where the WildeWater meets the surface for the first time, so its journey into the valley begins and the hiker of the WildeWasser route ends his tour. "
