EN: This simple wooden cross stands on the edge of a hiking trail just next to the round church of Saas-Balen.
The cross is dated 2002 and carries a bright Jesus figure. The material of the figure could be a kind of ceramic, it is neither metal nor wood.
If I interpreted the already somewhat faded inscription on the base correctly, the cross was donated by a trade union.
DE: Dieses schlichte Holzkreuz steht am Rand eines Wanderwegs gleich neben der Rundkirche von Saas-Balen.
Das Kreuz ist mit 2002 datiert und trägt eine helle Jesusfigur. Das Material der Figur könnte eine Art Keramik sein, es ist jedenfalls weder Metall noch Holz.
Wenn ich die schon etwas verblichene Inschrift am Sockel richtig deute, wurde das Kreuz von einer Gewerkschaft gestiftet.
