This plaque is situated on the wall in front of Forfar Sheriff Court in the town`s Market Street. It was at this site on March 7th 1941 that King George and Queen Elizabeth took the salute of the Polish forces who were stationed here during World War II. The plaque is of the Polish Eagle and is inscribed "His majesty King George VI accompanied by Queen Elizabeth and General Sikorski C in C. Polish Forces - took here the salute from the Polish troops on March the 7th 1941." The plaque was unveiled by General Maczek.
This is a little known plaque, even in the town itself, but is easily found just off the street, still easily readable.
