Under some high tension power lines passing by from west to east is where one will find this Vertical Control Mark, about ¾ of a mile south of the town (village) of Mead.

North of Spokane on North Market Street, this FLANGE-ENCASED ROD is a Vertical Control Mark on the west side of Market Street, just south of the Highway 395 overpass just south of Mead. Follow the coordinates while looking for the white witness sign and you'll walk right up to it, about 145 feet west of the centerline of Market Street

1.8 KILOMETERS (1.1 MILES) SOUTH ALONG MARKET STREET FROM THE POST OFFICE IN MEAD, AT THE JUNCTION OF HAWTHORNE ROAD, AT A HIGH TENSION POWER LINE CROSSING THE HIGHWAY, SET BETWEEN TWO POWER LINE POLES, 45.7 METERS (150 FEET) WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF MARKET STREET, 152.4 METERS (500 FEET) SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF HAWTHORNE ROAD, 1.8 METERS (6.0 FEET) SOUTH OF POWER LINE POLE NUMBER BT 1 31 A, 1.8 METERS (6.0 FEET) NORTH OF POWER LINE POLE NUMBER B.
THE MARK IS 0.3 METERS E FROM A WITNESS POST.
THE MARK IS 1.2 M BELOW THE STREET CENTERLINE.
