The station has four tracks, three of them with platforms. The two-storey station building also includes a grocery store on the west side and the station square is a stop for various bus lines.

Aarbug-Oftringen is located on the Olten-Lucerne route, which was opened between Olten and Emmen in 1856 and extended to Lucerne in 1859. Since 1858, the line has two tracks, in 1924 it was electrified on the full lenght.

Today, Aarburg-Oftringen is a stop for regional trains to Sursee, Langenthal and Olten (some move on to Baden or Turgi) and RegioExpress trains to Olten and Lucerne. There are about eight trains per hour. The bus connections are to Oftringen, Zofingen and Trimbach.
