Ihren Ursprung hat die Stadtkirche St. Gangolf 1224 als ursprünglich romanische dreischiffige Basilika. Einige wenige Teile der Kirche sind seit dem erhalten: u.a. Rundbogen im Schiff, kleines Fenster über südöstlichen Joch, zweijöchige Chor mit Tonnengewölbe. Im Laufe der Jahre wurde das Kirchengebäude mehrfach umgebaut, erweitert und teilweise wieder abgetragen.
Benannt ist die Kirche nach Gangolf aus Burgund, einem Märtyrer, adligen Jäger und Besitzer eines Klosters.
ENGLISH:
The town church St. Gangolf dates from 1224 as a originally Romanesque three-naved basilica. A few parts of the church have been preserved: the round arch in the ship, small window over southeastern yoke. Over the years, the church building has been rebuilt, expanded and partially removed several times.
The church is named after Gangolf from Burgundy, a martyr, noble hunter and owner of a monastery.
