La ville d'Ax les Thermes est située sur la RN 20 venant de Toulouse et menant vers l'Espagne et les cols. Son origine est très ancienne, bien avant l'époque galloromaine.
C'est le roi Saint-Louis (1214-1270) qui fit construire en 1260 un hôpital à côté du bassin des Ladres (bains d'eaux sulfureuses très chaudes). C'est un lieu de rencontre entre les patients de l'hôpital, les curistes, les gens du cru et les touristes.
Le centre hospitalier en centre ville est d'un accès très facile, autant pour les voitures que pour les piétons.
La station thermale s'est développée surtout à partir du 19ème siècle par la création des Thermes du Breilh.
Ax les Thermes est desservie par le train de Toulouse-La Tour de Carol (porte de l'Espagne) et l'autocar.
Le centre hospitalier d'Ax les Thermes s'est toujours adapté aux évolutions des besoins de la population, de par les prestations de soins qui y sont dispensées.
Saint-Louis est un Etablissement Public de Santé, doté de l'autonomie financière et sous tutelle de l'Etat, qui assume ses missions d'origine : soins et hébergement
The town of Ax les Thermes is located on the RN 20 from Toulouse and leading to Spain and passes. Its origin is very old, long before the Gallo-Roman era.
It is the San Luis Rey (1214-1270) who built in 1260 next to a hospital Ladres basin (bathroom with hot sulphurous water). It is a meeting place for the patients of the hospital, spa guests, locals and tourists.
The hospital in the city center is very easy access for both cars and pedestrians.
The spa has developed mainly from the 19th century with the creation of the Spa Breilh.
Ax les Thermes is served by the train from Toulouse-La Tour de Carol (Door of Spain) and the coach.
The hospital Ax les Thermes has always adapted to changing needs of the people, by the provision of care are delivered there.
St. Louis is a Public Health Establishment, enjoying financial autonomy and under supervision of the State, which assumes its original mission: care and accommodation
