Frau Dr. Henriette Goldschmidt (* 23. 11. 1825 in Krotoszyn, † 30. 01. 1920 in Leipzig) beschäftigte sich im Laufe ihres Lebens sehr stark mit dem Werk des Pädagogen Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel und gründete 1871 den „Verein für Familien- und Volkserziehung“ in Leipzig. Das Ziel des Vereins war die Verbreitung von Kindergärten und die Ausbildung von qualifizierten Erzieherinnen sowie die „erzieherische Bildung der Jungfrauen und Mütter“.

Darüberhinaus gründete sie 1865 zusammen mit Louise Otto-Peters, Auguste Schmidt und Ottilie von Steyber den ("Allgemeinen Deutschen Frauenverein") (den ersten Frauenverein in Deutschland). Als Vorstandsmitglied im Verein setzte sich Dr. Henriette Goldschmidt vor allem für gleiche Bildungschancen für Mädchen und Frauen sowie deren gleichberechtigte Teilnahme am öffentlichen Leben ein.

Die Krönung ihres Lebenswerkes war die Gründung der ("Hochschule für Frauen zu Leipzig") im Jahr 1911. Die Hochschule erreichte schnell nationale und internationale Anerkennung und war ein Vorbild für ähnliche Bildungsstätten für Frauen.

Das Grab befindet sich auf dem (Alte israelitische Friedhof) in Leipzig. Sie liegt neben ihrem Ehemann Rabbiner Abraham Meyer Goldschmidt, dessen Lebenswerk als Rabiner die Gestaltung des Grabfeldes bestimmt.

Dr. Henriette Goldschmidt (* 23. 11. 1825 in Krotoszyn, † 30. 01. 1920 in Leipzig) studied the work of the educator Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel and founded the „Verein für Familien- und Volkserziehung“ (association for familie- and public education) in 1871. The aim of the association was the spread of kindergartens and the training of qualified teachers, as well as the "educative education of the young women and mothers".

Together with Louise Otto-Peters, Auguste Schmidt and Ottilie von Steyber she also founded the ("German Association of Female Citizens") in 1865. As a member of the Executive Board, Dr. Henriette Goldschmidt was primarily responsible for equal educational opportunities for girls and women as well as their equal participation in public life.

Really importantly for her life was the foundation of the ("Hochschule für Frauen zu Leipzig") (school for womans in Leipzig) in 1911. The school quickly gained national and international recognition and was a model for similar educational establishments for women.

The grave is on the (Alten israelitischen Friedhof) in Leipzig. It is next to her husband Rabbi Abraham Meyer Goldschmidt, whose life as Rabin determines the design of the grave field.
