This benchmark is located at the base the southwest leg of Frankston's municipal water tower in Anderson County, East Texas. The water tower is actually a NGS Benchmark as well: "CR1300".

As described by the Coast and Geodetic Survey ("CGS") back in 1934:

"16.4 MI NW FROM JACKSONVILLE. 16.4 MILES NORTHWEST OF, ALONG T.AND N.O.R.R. IN THE TOWN OF FRANKSTON, .45 MILE NORTH OF T. AND N.O.R.R. TRACKS ALONG COMMERCE STREET, .3 MILE WEST OF FRANKSTON SCHOOL BUILDING, IN SOUTHWEST FOOTING OF 100 FOOT HIGH WATER TOWER. TABLET SET HORIZONTALLY IN CONCRETE FOOTING STAMPED, K-162, 1934."

Most of the 1934 reference points no longer hold true except for "[...] IN SOUTHWEST FOOTING OF 100 FOOT HIGH WATER TOWER. TABLET SET HORIZONTALLY IN CONCRETE FOOTING STAMPED, K-162, 1934." All other reference items are no longer valid.

More importantly, The station's associated "NGS Data Sheet" posted coordinates are SIGNIFICANTLY off!!! As of the time of this waymark posting, the NGS reported the station at "N 32 03 18. W 095 30 32.", which is a good ~900 feet West of the benchmark in question. The actual coordinates -- as measured within 15' accuracy and 20+ reading averages -- are "N 32° 3.323 W 95° 30.350".

The station was recovered in mediocre condition. Although the water tower and the bench mark disk in question are secured by a fence (making close-ups of the station rather difficult), zoomed-in pictures seem to indicate that the stamped inscriptions are almost no longer legible save for the "1934" stamp. See posted waymark's gallery images for BM close-up and setting details.
