 A 586 m d'altitude, le village de Sombernon est bâti sur une arête rocheuse, il domine une large vallée offrant une superbe vue, sa rue unique a la particularité d'être la ligne de partage des eaux, d'un côte l'eau va à la Méditerranée et de l'autre côté à la Manche.
En direction de Saint Seine l'Abbaye, le lavoir doté d'une belle architecture, avec des ouvertures arrondies et un bac à eau rectangulaire, à été superbement restauré, c'est ici que se situe la source de la Brenne.
