One of a number of dated buildings on the main street of Barraba. Barraba is a small country town which grew on the back of mining for gold, copper & asbestos but is now an agricultural and pastoral centre, with beef, fine wool and grains making up the major industries.
The year of construction is divided into two parts & each is mounted on ornate plasterwork. The name of the building is in the centre. The Barraba Information Centre is now housed in the building.
