Uns ist bewußt, dass dies weder ein Stein noch ein Bolzen ist, aber da es sich hierbei um den Fundamentalen Nullpunkt für alle Trigonometrischen Punkte Deutschlands handelt, glauben wir, dass der Turm in diese Kategorie gehört.
We are aware that this is not a stone or a bolt, but since it was the fundamental reference point for all German trigonometric points, we think it should be part of this category.

Vom Marker am Helmert-Turm:
Wer immer zwischen 1870 und 1950 ein Stück Land vermessen wollte, musste sich am Helmert-Turm orientieren, denn der Turm war der Nullpunkt der preußischen Landvermessung. So wie Greenwich der Bezugspunkt für die Zeit ist, war der Helmert-Turm der Bezugspunkt für den Raum. ...
Nach 1950 ging der Helmert-Turm als gesamtdeutscher Nullpunkt in das europäische Koordinaten-System ein. Das Areal dient heute dem Potsdamer Geoforschungsinstitut als Forschungsstätte.

Between 1870 and 1950, anybody wanting a piece of property surveyed had to reference the Helmert-Tower, as the tower was "Point Zero" for all Prussian land surveys. Just like Greenwich is the reference point for time, the Helmert-Tower was the reference point for space. ...
After 1950, the tower became the unified German reference point within the European survey system. Today, the area is used by the German Research Centre for Geosciences.
