"Die Bonner Museumsmeile wird an markanter Stelle um ein Kunstwerk reicher. Fünf Künstler aus der Region sowie dem Ruhrgebiet waren eingeladen, Konzepte zur Umwandlung des freien Platzes vor dem Neubau brandtelf zum Kunstraum vorzulegen. Die Jury, der unter anderem der Intendant des Kunstmuseums Bonn, Professor Stephan Berg, angehörte, hat getagt und entschieden: Christoph Dahlhausens Entwurf 'What if?' macht das Rennen.
Für den Entwurf setzte sich der Bonner Künstler Christoph Dahlhausen intensiv mit der Historie des Ortes und der Architektur auseinander. Seine Idee setzt ein Gegengewicht zur Gradlinigkeit des Ortes, er will ein spielerisches Chaos schaffen, das für den Betrachter zu der erlebbaren Fragestellung einlädt: What if? Thema seines Konzepts ist die Frage: Wie bauen wir?
Durch die 'aufgebrochene Form' seines Entwurfes verzichtet Dahlhausen auf eine zentrierte Gestaltung und setzt den Platz an sich in den Fokus. What if? erfasst den gesamten Platz und ermöglicht dem Besucher/Betrachter diesen als Kunstraum zu erleben und zu entdecken. Gleichzeitig ermöglicht dieser Entwurf die Unterbrechung der geometrischen Linien der Fassade an mehreren Stellen.
What if? ist ein sinnliches Angebot, das eine Erlebbarkeit von Bewegung andeutet. Die zusätzlichen Bodenstangen lassen Raum für ein Weiterdenken. Gleichzeitig dienen sie als Sitzgelegenheit. Somit hat Christoph Dahlhausen auch das Thema der 'Sozialen Plastik' in seinen Entwurf integriert."

"The Bonn museum mile becomes richer in a prominent place around a work of art. Five artists from the region as well as from the Ruhr area were invited to submit concepts for the conversion of the free space in front of the new building brandtelf to the Kunstraum. The jury, which included, among others, the director of the Kunstmuseum Bonn, Professor Stephan Berg, has met and decided: Christoph Dahlhausen's design "What if?" makes the race.
For the design the Bonn artist Christoph Dahlhausen dealt intensively with the history of the place and the architecture. His idea is a counterbalance to the straightforwardness of the place, he wants to create a playful chaos that invites the viewer to the questionable question: What if? The theme of his concept is the question: How do we build?
Due to the "broken form" of his design, Mr. Dahlhausen renounced a centered design and placed the spot in the focus. What if? Captures the entire space and allows the visitor / viewer to experience and discover this as an art space. At the same time, this design allows the interruption of the geometric lines of the façade in several places.
What if? Is a sensual offer that implies an experience of movement. The additional floor poles leave room for a further thought. At the same time they serve as a seat. Thus, Christoph Dahlhausen has also integrated the theme of "social plastic" into his design."
