The first Guinston Church was a log structure erected in 1754. Twenty years later, the now prosperous congregation built a new stone building nearby. Constructed of local fieldstone, the new structure presented a rather severe aspect reflective of the Scotch-Irish Presbyterian demeanor.
The Guinston United Presbyterian Church is an excellent example of a rural Presbyterian Church. It has not undergone extensive interior or exterior alteration and therefore retains most of its original appointments.
