The Bell Tower of St James' church, Bicknor, contains four steel bells cast in 1862 by Naylor, Vickers & Co of Sheffield for the London Exhibition, and later hung in the church. They are unringable.

Unringable; steel bells; no stays or sliders; no electricity; tuning: 1,3-5 of 5; have very small wheels more appropriate to swing chiming

History

  1760   Record of 1 small bell.
  1862   Steel bells cast for the London Exhibition, later hung in Bicknor church.
  1990   2 of the bells lowered to the ground by vandals.
  1993   Bells rehung.
  2002   Some ringers managed to break the tenor wheel while vigorously pulling the bell. The tenor and treble were rehung by the KCACR, but with the proviso that it be chimed only.
