In 1927, as a town hall built in typical interwar architecture commissioned by the city and designed by architect J. Boelens Kzn from Assen.
On the facade is "It Aole Gemientehoes" written in a vernacular and translation is "The Old Town Hall".
This former town hall is also a Dutch National Monument. (
