Impressive monument erected by the State of Massachusetts honouring those from Massachusetts who died in the Shenandoah Valley campaigns between 1861 and 1865.

The monument features a Union soldier on the march, atop a granite base. The front features a bronze marker. Marker texts reads:

To The Valor
Of The Sons Of
Massachusetts
Who Gave Their Lives
For The Union
In The
Shenandoah Valley
1861-1865

Sides of the base include markers listing the various Infantry Regiments and Artillery units from Massachusetts

The rear has "Massachusetts" Outlined in the granite.
