The Flower Mound Heritage Walk is located in the Robertson's Creek Shopping Center, and can be found behind the Starbucks. Today, Waketon is part of Flower Mound, and besides Mr. Wakefield's old house (northwest of here), Waketon Road is just south of here, and there really isn't much left of Waketon otherwise. The sign says:

"Willie Robertson

Willie Robertson, son of Doc and Emma Robertson, was a colorful Waketon resident with penchants for metallurgy, photography and whiskey. As Waketon's blacksmith, he was responsible for making and honing all the farming tools for the surrounding community. That monopoly yielded him a few extra dollars which he spent on camera equipment.

The majority of the Heritage Walk photographs were taken by Willie around the turn of the 20th century. As the first person in Waketon to own and operate photographic equipment, he took hundreds of photos around the North Texas area. A life-long bachelor, Willie often made slingshots for the children of Waketon.

Willie's job as town photographer was not to last, however. With the onset of World War I, silver nitrate, could not be obtained from Germany. Paper supplies also became scarce, making photography nearly impossible."
