There is the large "M", first constructed in 1908 by university students of the U of M in Missoula and there's the "L", done by students of Loyola in an effort not to be outdone by the U of M. The peace sign, however, is a bit less documented. It seems that back in the 1980s, Missoula had a microwave reflector panel located on Waterworks Hill that was constantly receiving a new paint job in the form of a large peace sign. This is gone now, but someone has tried to resurrect it with this peace sign. It is easily viewed from the old Northern Pacific Railroad Station at the North end of North Higgins Avenue.
